ars machina: status update

for fuck's sake

I'M Cussing this morning because after two days of thinking I might be coming down with a cold again (the same one I had a few weeks ago, passed full circle around the household of three), this morning I woke up a 1:30 am, sinuses flowing like the river Nile, and sneezing convulsively again.

Perhaps not as severe as last time so far, but still -- completely interrupted my sleep (I had to relocate to the front room to avoid completely interfering with Virginia's sleep, which I probably did anyway), and anyway I just hate feeling any other way than like I can kick the living shit out of high prices (something my old fishing buddy Richard used to say).

Anyway. The sick thing, I'm just really not into it.

I'm uncertain about the game plan today; it will obviously be modified by the hit I'm taking to my health right now. I need to bang heads with the missus and see what we hammer out.

concerning this fuhrslugginer code (extra points if you get the reference!), it's marvelous. Brillinat, even. Not the code so much, it's a couple of nested loops with some excepting conditions, we wrote shit like this in 1st year compsci....but the function it performs, that's the magic. There's a lot of such magic out there -- literally, markdown converters; but so far, I haven't seen any that dow what mine does. I guess Hugo makes the closest approach. I found Hugo to be a very cool thing, but they really got tangled in their own drive train when they approached themes. It was a real good try.

On with my meanering, random-assed post. Tea is Good. Specifically, green tea. Late last year I stopped drinking coffee, and switched to green tea. I've always liked green tea, it really wasn't such a hard sell, but I really liked coffee. Like booze, when I/my bodeh have become sufficiently well ensconsed in the homeostasis around my latest blood pressure meds, I might try a little and see how the two cohabit my interior. If all goes well, I might let a little of each back into my life.

I like the drink. I've been something of a lush, off and on, for most of my adult life. For the past 15 years (excepting liquor), I've brewed most of what I've drank; ale, cider, and mead. Am I an alcoholic? It doesn't seem so; I haven't had a drink of anything (excepting about 4oz of the Sam Adams I didn't pour off into the chili recipe last night), since before Christmas. That was at my wife's work's christmas party, and while I was anything but drunk, I did imbibe deeply of some 12 yr old Macallen scotch whiskey, and the interaction with my BP dose was, shall we say, not ideal. It could also have been the coffee I ordered instead of a nightcap. I probably should have just stayed home. It's worth pointing out that the short beer I had yesterday was everything I'd hoped it would be: Beer. Otherwise, it was unremarkable. You'd be correct in assuming I have a beer fridge full of good things to drink that I've brewed, and a couple bottles of wine on the counter; it being mostly for cooking.

So I think I'll go in and confer with the wife for a bit about what to be doin today.

And if you know how to make markdown2 render tables, that would be great (speaking of the fuhrslugginer code).
